I have decided to create a handmade wood stove, because I will have different natural stuff for fuel at hand.
Handmade wood stove: advantages of a foldable pyramid.
I saw various constructions of woodstoves in the Net, and the idea for a pyramid heater came to my mind. While making it I realized what the advantages of this construction are:
Pyramid form is very stable.
Wide bottom of the wood stove ensures waster space for burning and narrower upper part makes up for higher fire concentration under the pot.
Construction makes up for better draft.
Wide lower part allows inserting bigger pieces of fuel.
Construction is compact and easily foldable.
Weight – 1 kg.
Backpacking pyramid wood stove: instruments and materials required
To create a handmade wood stove I used various stuff and only had to buy piano type hinges.
Piano type hinges 70 cm long (2 pieces)
Steel rivets (50 pieces), diameter 3mm.
How to make a wood stove
Step 1. I got a weather board and cut 4 trapezoids and 1 square out of it. The width of the board defined the height of the wood stove.
Step 2. I cut out 3 chimney windows in 3 trapezoids and used the fourth to make a window for the future door.
Step 3. In one trapezoid, I made a holder for a fire bar (grating-like tray at the bottom of the wood stove).
Шаг 4. Cut openings on the square and the trapezoids.
Step 5. I took a piano hinge, cut it into pieces and used steel rivets to attach to sides of trapezoids one-by-one.
Step 6. Using the hinge I riveted the fire bar to the last trapezoid, and wood stove door was attached to the trapezoid on the opposite.
Step 7. I took out the needle from piano hinge at the last trapezoid, and bent it. Its end will serve as lock.
Step 8. I assembled the pyramid-like structure and fixed it with the bent needle.
As the result, I got a wood stove like that, drawings were made after that. (dimensions in millimeters)
